Nine oil workers rescued from burning rig

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued nine oil workers who were trapped on a burning jackup rig near Sabine Pass, Texas, Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022.
  
All nine on the rig were rescued and no injuries were reported, according to the Coast Guard. Local media reports indicate that the rig in question was Pride Wisconsin, previously owned by Pride International, which was acquired by Ensco in 2011 and sold by Ensco in the first half of 2014 along with Ensco69 for net proceeds of $32.2 million and a pre-tax gain of $23.6 million. Sale. Following its merger with Rowan in 2019, Ensco is now known as Valaris.
  
"The lives of nine people were saved due to the excellent teamwork and coordination of all involved," said Capt. Keith M. Donohue, search and rescue mission coordinator for the case. "Coast Guard personnel train for life-saving situations like this all year long, and we are happy to know that everyone made it home safely."
  

The cause of the rig accident is unknown and will be investigated by the authorities.
